An historic building dating back more than 200 years in Warwick that once served as a pub and bank has come on to the market with commercial property agency Bromwich Hardy.

10-12 Swan Street in the town centre has a £750,000 sale price, although the owners are also willing to consider renting it for £50,000 a year.

Tom Bromwich, managing partner at Bromwich Hardy, explained how the property was formerly The Red Lion pub until it closed in the late 1980s, after which it served as a branch of Lloyds Bank.

Mr Bromwich said: “This is a period three-storey building plus basement, and probably dates from around 1820.

“The building is predominantly a brick and rendered construction beneath a part-pitched and part-flat roof, with approximately 4,688 sq ft of combined space across all floors.

“Recent mixed accommodation has included a former bank space and a separate self-contained retail unit, which has been sub-let in the past, plus upper floors.

“Swan Street is a busy road at the heart of Warwick town centre and there is shared pedestrian access at the side that leads to the rear.

“There is also a substantial flat roofed area that can be accessed from the first floor accommodation, and this offers scope to enlarge the property, subject to planning permission.

“The freehold property offers vacant possession and is available for sale at £750,000 or to let at £50,000 a year.”

Warwick is an historic county town approximately 20 miles south of Birmingham, 11 miles from Coventry and nine miles from Stratford-upon-Avon.

The town enjoys an excellent range of shops and facilities, with Swan Street being one of the busy thoroughfares between Warwick Castle and the Market Place.

Warwick Railway Station is within walking distance and Junction 15 of the M40 motorway is just three miles to the west.

Bromwich Hardy is marketing the property with joint agents Godfrey-Payton of Warwick.
