Up to ten jobs are being created at new “padel tennis” centre opening in a Midlands warehouse, thanks to a deal sealed by commercial property agency Bromwich Hardy.
The start-up company Padel Studios Group Ltd plans to launch the facilities next month in nearly 14,000 sq ft of space at Unit B6 Paragon Way, on the Bayton Road Industrial Estate in Coventry.
Aman Choudhury and Preet Bains, both previously senior auditors at EY who are also keen padel tennis players, are the entrepreneurs behind the Birmingham-based Padel Studios Group.
The Coventry sports centre is set to open in mid-June, along with a Pilates studio and café that will together create up to ten jobs.
Mark Booth, a senior surveyor at Bromwich Hardy, said: “We’re thrilled to welcome Padel Studios Group to Coventry and wish them every success with this exciting development on Coventry’s largest industrial estate.
“This location will provide easy access to players from across the wider West Midlands, as it’s less than 15 minutes’ drive from the city centre and just five minutes from Junction 3 of the M6.”
Padel Studios Group is already involved in various other talks for the fast expansion of padel tennis facilities across the Midlands.
Mr Choudhury said: “We’re both keen padel tennis enthusiasts who know exactly what’s needed for what has become the world's fastest growing racquet sport.
“Our new venue in Coventry will have three courts plus a Pilates studio upstairs, and the various sports instructors, along with a café, will create around ten jobs.
“We’re now busy planning a launch day for 14 June, with the centre opening to the public on 15 June.
“This is our first padel tennis centre and we are planning to quickly establish a community for the sport across the region.”
Unit B6 has a total of 13,977 sq ft of space, including 9,806 sq ft on the main warehouse floor, another 3,382 sq ft on the extensive mezzanine floor, plus 789 sq ft in the offices, kitchen and toilets.
Bromwich Hardy arranged the deal on behalf of landlord Upside Capital Ltd, on a ten-year lease at £100,000 per annum, with a 50% discount agreed for the first year.
Upside Capital received legal advice from Ingram Winter Green, while Onyx Solicitors advised Padel Park Ltd.
