Sports stars and celebrities helped raise more than £24,000 for the Get A-Head Charitable Trust in a clay shoot day that was sponsored by Midlands commercial property agency Bromwich Hardy.

Former England rugby captain Tom Wood and retired Northampton Saints legend Alex Waller were among the stars who helped raise vital funds for the charity.

Get A-Head was founded in Birmingham more than 30 years ago and helps support people across England and Wales suffering from head and neck diseases, particularly cancer.

Tom Bromwich, chair of the charity’s board of trustees, and managing partner of Bromwich Hardy, explained how the clay shoot took place at the Holland & Holland Shooting Grounds on the outskirts of London.

Mr Bromwich said: “This was a terrific day that attracted shooting teams from across the UK who all enjoyed the sunshine, great competitive fun and knowing that they were helping raise money for Get A-Head.

“As well as Tom Wood and Alex Waller, we were also joined by TV’s Made in Chelsea stars Tristan Phipps and Julia Pollard, and influential financier and social media personality, Jordan Rigby.

“We had a great time on our team, and we were especially pleased that James Hornsby won the coveted title of ‘Top Gun’!

“But competitive spirits aside, it was lovely to see so many people come together to support the charity and we are so grateful for everyone’s time and generosity.”

The day included an exciting morning of clay shooting along with on-the-spot fundraising challenges and a live auction before guests enjoyed a drinks reception and a gourmet lunch.

Guests then heard post-lunch speeches that told the stories of various individuals whose lives have been improved by Get A-Head’s work to fund research, equipment and support services for those living with head and neck diseases.

As well as Bromwich Hardy, other sponsors of the event were Wigley Investment Holdings Ltd, CEF, EHB Residential, and Rosconn. The event was organised by Wilde & Glorious, with hospitality by Holland & Holland.

Next year's Charity Clay Challenge will take place at the same venue on Friday 15 May 2026. Teams of four are priced at £2,250 but there’s a discounted rate of £2,000 for bookings received by 31 August. To reserve your team email
