DAVID PENN ADVISES ON EMPLOYMENT LAND SHORTAGE

David Penn of Bromwich Hardy heads up the Coventry & Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce’s Employment Land Group chaired the meeting with Jane Gratton of the British Chambers of Commerce.

David comments: “People are familiar with the fact that we have a terrible shortage of housing development, which needs land release. But what people are not being informed by media or politics is that we have a far more chronic under-supply of available land for jobs. This is particularly relevant to the Coventry & Warwickshire area, where we have good sites, but not enough of them. Hard discussions need to be held at high level to relieve over-protection of green belt, rather than green spaces. We must protect our Countryside, but the whole concept of greenbelt is arcane, including many areas of land neither beautiful, accessible, nor serving any particular amenity”.
